инеко банк

Below are real Inecobank reviews from foreigners who’ve gone through account opening in Armenia, along with the documents involved.

Documents You’ll Need

To open an account at Inecobank, you’ll typically need:

  • an international passport
  • an employment contract (in your home country or in Armenia)
  • proof of employment or a rental agreement (6 months minimum)
  • an income certificate for the previous year
  • registration in Armenia

Inecobank Reviews

  • As of today, Inecobank no longer requires an Armenian translation of your international passport. What I provided: an income certificate, a certificate from my employer back home, a statement from my home bank, and a rental agreement (needs to cover 6 months). Proving income matters most — a copy of your employment contract works too. My account was opened the same day, and the Visa card was ready by Thursday-Friday. On limits: anything over $10,000 in your account gets frozen for 6 months. The bank doesn’t want to look like a money-laundering risk, so at the interview, make clear you intend to actually live and work here — a lot of foreigners are coming through to open accounts, and everyone says the same thing about living and working remotely from Armenia.
  • At Inecobank it took three calls to get my linked phone number changed. The first call updated it in my online banking profile (which turned out not to matter for anything). The second changed the number used for 2FA login. The third changed the one used for 3D Secure on card payments. Good thing I still had access to my old number the whole time — I could see the texts arriving, just going to the wrong place.
  • The second time I needed to change my number, I asked them to update it everywhere at once. The staff member said they understood and would take care of it — I even signed a written request just to be safe. In the end, my request just got lost, which I only found out a week later when I called to check on progress.
  • Opened accounts in dram and euro, plus a third currency account. Got two cards (dram and euro, both Visa Classic, 4,000 AMD each) — 22,000 AMD total for everything. Some tips: 1) Be clear upfront about which accounts and cards you want — showing you know what you’re doing helps. 2) Bring an income certificate or a copy of your employment contract (or a freelance/self-employed income statement) to prove you have a source of income. I brought mine from 2021, the manager glanced at it and made a copy — no further checks, and they even declined my offer to bring 2022 documents too. 3) Say you’re staying, that you’ll open the account now and start looking for housing. I gave my home-country phone number, and used a friend’s address — though apparently even a hotel address can work.
  • P.S.: At a different Inecobank branch, they asked for a rental agreement covering at least 3 months. It doesn’t need to be notarized — a simple agreement between you and the landlord is enough. The bank just needs to see that you’ll be here for at least 3 months.

If remote account opening matters more to you than the specific bank, opening a bank account in Kazakhstan is worth a look as an alternative.

  • Opened accounts for two of us at Inecobank, and they only asked for passports. When asked about employment, they wanted to know if we had any contracts with clients — when we said we didn’t have them on us, they said it wasn’t really necessary anyway. First time was at the Malatia branch, second at Abovyan. The first visit was under the old sole-proprietor terms; the second (about a week later) already required a deposit — rules may have shifted a bit since then.
  • They also issue a card tied to a sole-proprietor account, and we opened personal accounts too (with cards included).
  • Compared to some other banks, Inecobank was smooth and fast the whole way through — they gave me all the information upfront, issued two cards on request (a Visa Classic and a Mastercard Standard, 8,000 AMD combined), and the app worked right away without needing a separate office visit. Apple Pay works too.
  • A bit of my own experience opening accounts at Inecobank: went to the branch on a Monday, agreed on the document list, then submitted everything the next day — passports, an employment contract with my home-country employer (I work remotely), a rental agreement, income certificates for 2021 and 2022, a statement of card transactions during my time in Armenia, and statements from my home bank accounts. They called to confirm receipt and promised to follow up on approval — then forgot, and stopped responding to emails. I eventually went in person and found out approval had actually happened the previous Friday. They opened 3 accounts (AMD, USD, and one more currency) plus 2 cards (AMD and USD Mastercard — no Visa available, but a virtual card is an option). Cards would be ready by Friday afternoon. Total cost: 22,000 AMD.
  • I recently opened a resident account at Inecobank, holding a work permit and the matching residence permit, and got approved to switch to Ardshinbank’s resident rate too. Not a Russian citizen, for context — registration works a bit differently for non-EAEU citizens in general, but this was a case where it didn’t quite follow the usual pattern.
  • By default, Inecobank opens an AMD account plus an account matching your card’s currency. If you order a card too, that adds a separate card account — so in total you may end up needing to keep track of about 5 accounts.
  • For sole-proprietor accounts, Inecobank opens 4 accounts at once (AMD, EUR, USD, and one more currency); for personal accounts, they only open AMD by default, unless you specifically ask staff to add more (a paid add-on) or add them yourself through online banking (free).
  • I opened at Inecobank on a residence permit about a week ago — they said I’d face fewer restrictions than as a non-resident, but as I understood it, this isn’t quite the same tier as with citizenship — more like something in between non-resident and citizen status.
